Welcome home

Hometown warmth.
Big-city access.

New Haven sits just east of Fort Wayne along the Maumee River—one of Northeast Indiana’s most established communities, where neighbors know each other and downtown is still the heart of town.

Housing here spans historic homes near the canal-era streets, quiet mid-century neighborhoods, newer subdivisions, and rural acreage to the east—so buyers can trade space, budget, and commute to fit their lives.

A sense of place

Born a
canal town

The Wabash & Erie Canal opened through New Haven in 1843 and put the town on the map. When the canal era faded, the Nickel Plate and Wabash railroads—and later the historic Lincoln Highway—kept New Haven a proud “transportation town.”

Today the story lives on: downtown heritage discovery sites, the annual Canal Days festival, and steam excursions with the Nickel Plate Road No. 765 just east of the city.
